A ranch owner in far southwest Val Verde County said a Border Patrol contact told her 'the pushback is working' and urged continued opposition; she warned losing river access would devalue every acre and described threatening access demands from a contractor with no awarded contract.

A rancher whose family has held land since the 1880s described threatening phone calls from contractors, said the map keeps changing, and asked how landowners can 'run faster, smarter' against a project his family fears will fence them into $2 million gates and lost acreage.
